Granny flats — formally 'secondary dwellings' — are stand-alone or attached residences up to 60 m² that can be built on a single residential block alongside the main home. They're useful for ageing-in-place arrangements, adult children, home offices and rental income.

Most granny flats in NSW are approved under the State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008 as Complying Development, which means a faster certifier pathway rather than a full council DA. Riversedge Building Group builds Class 1a secondary dwellings to that pathway and to council-DA pathways where the site requires it.

What's typically included

Foundation, framing, full fit-out (kitchen, bathroom, laundry, living, bedroom), services connection to the main home or independent meters where required, and council/certifier inspections.
